CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    New from Phoenix!

Hello everyone! Just joined as as a paying CONECA member located in center of Phoenix, Arizona. Supporting the group and the forum financially is an important responsibility for all of us who want to participate and utilize the amazing resources being made available to us. I was only recently exposed to coins, the processes associated with creating them and how errors arise. My parents maintained a small collection I ignored after their passing, most of it was taken and cherry picked by siblings. I had the chance to review what was left and learn quite a bit. Learning has been a lot of fun, and pretty expensive! My first experience trying to ask for direction from a local coin shop resulted in the store "taking all of my silver off my hands" - for melt value. Never reviewing the dates at all. After being degraded on all of the Facebook pages, I opted to send coins to be graded to see what they were worth. Another expensive lesson indeed, but at least I wasn't degraded everyday! With a little more experience now, I am excited to follow questions with a little more sophistication!

Welcome aboard. This hobby has its rollercoaster ride of ups and downs. Yes, There is much to learn in just about any hobby and its awesome to learn something newcand positive in the hobby.

There is a handful of folk in here that can answer your coin related questions. But, like with everything else, a little research goes a long way.

    Good luck and Happy hunting.
