CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • New Forum member and a novice collector of errors and varieties

Hello to all. I'm new to both the Forum and CONECA (paid member N-6928). I have alot to learn about U.S. coin errors and varieties and the terminology used to categorize both. In the 70's a friend introduced me to Lincoln errors which interested me enough to check my pocket change and search the occasional roll for oddities which I dropped into jar. I'm also interested in Morgans but have to buy to get subjects for study. Give level of interest in Morgans I continue to be surprised that it is still possible to find interesting varieties; for example I recently found a 1889 O Morgan VAM-6.

Welcome Aboard ! VAM's are great, but there are quite a few of them ! I collect Lincoln Cents, 1964 Kennedy Half Dollars and Morgans. Hopefully you will post a few pictures so we all can enjoy your finds as well.
