New Member - Including Interesting Wash 25C Variety?

Hello CONECA group--new pending member - sending in my application this week. I have been collecting varieties (Wash 25c) for quite some time (RPMs, DDOs, etc) Generally became interested through Wexlers work and later FS. Something for the group here - have an interesting MS 63+ 1945s quarter pictured...note the "arrow" going through the eagles right wing. It is not a scratch it is raised and the image was part of the die. Would like to hear your thoughts. thanks

First of all wel ome aboard.
    Great photograph.

In my opinion, it is simply too clean and straight to be a die crack.

It is on the field (flat part of the die), and the incused part of the die where the eagle's wing is, so that makes it a bit tricky to identify what it is, especially when it is absolutely straight.

Might be a strike through, but again, its straight, so odd are its not since there isn't any associated damage around it.

So it might have been a die gouge, probably happened when they were doing maintenance on the die.

I would think it's too light of damage to be part of finger feeder damage, but I guess that could be a slight possibility.

Lastly, it may have been on the blank die face prior to the die having an image pressed onto the die.

It's light enough, so after a few hundred strikes, it might have faded. Why it would not distort upon the die pressing, i dont have an answer.

Thanks MintErrors--agree not a die crack (I have seen many on bust quarters and Halfs--definitely concur with you--line too clean). It has to be an incuse on the die--from what manner i dont know. thanks
