CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Hello Everyone

Good Day all. Addy1360 here. This is my first forum, please bear with me as I navigate thru. I am not a member at this time and am just finding out about CONECA. I enjoy sifting thru my change when I am relaxing or watching a movie. Also I am not a devout collector, per say, but when a particular coin catches my eye I put it in my "save" jar. I enjoy researching and getting the back stories of coins. I have come across a coin that has stumped me, since I can not find any information about it. It appears that the coin is missing "TRUST" in the inscription of "IN GOD WE TRUST". The last number of the date is missing also-or is so faint that i do not see it. They do not appear to have been scraped off or worn off they are just-well, missing. I would like to ask - What kind of error is this? Thank you.

    First of all welcome aboard

It has all the right indicators for a Struck through grease candidate. Grease and die chips can fill the letters and numbers on the die. Over time, it will clear itself, if a mint worker will when maintenance is performed on the dies.

It's a nice amount missing too more than the average. Not gonna retire if your looking to sell it, but it might buy you lunch if your lucky. Coneca frowns on us giving any sort of value, as that is an action between seller and buyer, which can fluctuate greatly.

The old addage is, "a collectible is only as valuable as the buyer is willing to pay for it."
