CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Pidt and imdp

Hello, I love coin collecting! I don’t know much about it, I have always loved it. It’s not easy for me or other visually impaired collectors. I could use any tips about collecting and storing. Plus any info about imdp and pidt would surely be appreciated.

In my opinion, when the planchet is in between the dies and the minting press strikes the planchet with a high pressure, some of that design ghosting may transfer. I see a LOT of Lincoln Wheat cents with this issue.

As for storage of coins, it is totally up to you. I suggest doing either cardboard mylar flips which usually are pretty safe or 2x2 (or for bigger coins) 2.5 x 2.5 plastic flips. The plastic flips can come in "museum quality" protection and are from from chemicals that may harm coins.

They sell AIR-TITE capsules that are diameter specific for coins. Some offer a small protective ring inside to help keep the coin centered.

There are coin snaps that do the same thing.

    I suggest looking here:
