Lincoln Reading a Book...1997 P Lincoln Cent... Near Lincoln's left shoulder there is an object that looks like he's reading a book...You know Lincoln loved to read right,,, is this a die chip of something?

I guess what I asking is...is this a known error...does it give the coin collectable value...I'm new to this...hoping for some insight

Die gouges, die cracks are typically very common.
They happened a lot in the 1950s thru late 70s.
They are only worthy of a premium IF they are significant.
This one you have is pretty minor.
In my opinion, this is not worth getting excited about.

In the coin error and variety world, drama is everything.
There is a slight caveat to this.
There are errors that I have personally seen that looked like a beaten, flogged piece of metal almost to the point beyond recognition.
Sometimes, too much drama is.... too much.
