CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    New Forum Member Introduction

    Hi everyone, My name is Matt and I'm addicted to varieties...lol
    I began collecting coins in general when I was in 5th grade and eventually ended up in the variety side of things about 6 years ago.
    It all stemmed from the fascination of an article I randomly saw about a 1955 1C FS-101. Although, I do not personally own one, my fascination with varieties grew and grew, then, resulted in me figuring out my favorite types of varieties which is Class 4 DDO's.
    Still to this day, the 1955D 1C FS-101 is my all time favorite variety with circulated and unc examples of all die stages in my collection.
    I began my research online, reading and studying, eventually ending up in some variety coin groups on facebook.
    Thats where I met Mr. Gary Wagnon, he would comment or reach out every now and then eventually, I ended up with the best mentor I could have hoped or asked for. For that, I am forever grateful.

    I hope to be able to grow within the variety community and help where I can as well as learn where I can.

        Hello, my name is Joe. I've recently joined as a paying member. Just a few months into numismatics and I am working on learning to see the differences between DD and MD. I have an interesting '64 D Jefferson Nickel that has a doubled eye. It looks like the coin was struck from a deteriorated double die. But with no known DDO's on this particular nickel, it doesn't make sense. I joined Coneca, and paid for the membership because of the doubling of Jefferson's eye on this nickel is so peculiar.

          Hi Joe, I am also a recent member. Like you I am just figuring out the site. I think you might have better luck is you repost your message as a new post vs. as a response to another post.
