CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Introducing myself

My name is Chloe, I am extremely new to coin collection. I inherited coins from my grandfather when he passed away in '86. Also my father in law when he passed away in '17. Other than taking the coins out every now and again I have kept them tucked away. It wasn't until I took my loop out and looked at them through that that I really got an interest in the hobby. That was about a month ago. Since the I have been adding coins to the collection and preserving the ones already there. My most recent find was a glass creamer jar that was hidden on a shelf that sat for over 50 years. My husband's grandma had hidden it, she had Alzheimer's and thought everyone was stealing her money. That has been fun looking at those as well. The oldest coin was a 1910 wheat penny. I look forward to reading the threads already and new ones posted to learn from.

Hello, welcome aboard. Interesting story and you might just find some hidden gems.
Plenty of good folks here to help you along the way.
One website that I will share with you is

    http://varietyvista.com

The website is educational and shows some doubled dies as well as some varieties known as repunched mintmarks.

on the main forum page here at CONECA, at the bottom is a list of coin websites.

    Happy hunting.
