CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

Oh no we got another new member

Hello all my name is David I am new to coin collecting all together, but was turned onto coin collecting (because I have a hard time remembering how to spell numismatic) from error coins. I did a little research on pennies and got stuck in that black hole unsupervised and after coming up for air I have since went to hunting through the many many quarters I had in my possession.

It has been hard trying to find large amounts of rolled quarters. Banks don't like doing things for you if your not a member and since I bank strictly online that is not an option. So I had a friend attempt to get some from their bank but was only allowed 20 dollars a day in quarters. I have also began a collection of proof sets and uncirculated sets straight from the us mint and only missing the 2020 proof set for the American innovation 1 dollar coins series as of right now.

Have two boys one teenager who has also began looking through pocket change but won't admit that it is pretty cool, and a much younger boy who thinks it is the coolest thing in the world to make sounds with coins while I search. The one coin I am most proud of right now is the 2020 w v75 quarter I just found the other day. Anyway thanks for having me and I went all out with a full membership. Why not looking forward to the journal subscription.

The coin shortage seems to have not let up at all. Once things get back towards "normal" hopefully there will be more coinage available.

I personally an not into the newer ( 1996 to present) coinage, but there are some quarters like the Maya quarter that supposedly has a doubled ear ring that looks interesting.

Coin shows are popular places to go to. Depending on your location you may find a good show to either ask questions or simply find something to add to your collection.

A popular website I like to use and share with others is

Variety vista used to be the CONECA standard. Since CONECA took the attribution rights back, they have been building a website from scratch and are slowly but surely making progress. The CONECA master list is at

    https://www.conecaonline.info/

Thanks for joining. Hopefully the Errorscope magazine which comes bi-monthly will be a hit. Although coin collecting is not for everyone, one can find peace and tranquility as they examine a coin and try to match it up to known examples.

Good luck in your coin hunting and coin collecting adventure.
