I've been collecting since 1958. My uncle who also got me into stamp collecting helped me with my coin collections. He was a NYC subway token booth attendant on the night shift and would set aside Mercs, Buffaloes, Standing Liberty quarters, etc. I gave him a list of the holes in my Whitman folders. Besides me, he also had coin dealers show up at night to see what he saved for them. They gave him good prices and he replaced the $$ to make sure his $$ balanced at the end of his shift.
After enlisting in the USAF Medical Service in November 1965, I was away from home and my collections. I stayed on active duty after I got back from Vietnam in Jul 1969 and was assigned to various locations in the States. Retired in June 2000 along with my wife nurse. Now I'm back because the itch got to be too much.
I bought a coin scope and it's so much easier to see errors, etc., and also take an image of them. I'll be posting some for opinions soon.
Looking forward to learning more about errors from the more "seasoned" members.
