CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    Greetings, all!

I'l be honest, although I've always been sort of vaguely interested in coin collecting, it's never something that I actually took up as a hobby. But a few weeks ago, someone shared a YouTube video with me of someone searching through coin rolls and finding neat variations and errors "in the wild," if you will. That sort of hunting appealed to me, and so I went to the bank, got some rolled coins, and started my own hunt.

The main reason I joined here is because I found a coin that looks like it has a variation, but isn't listed anywhere that I can find. So I'm going to post it in the attributions section and see what the experts there can come up with. Obviously, if it's a new variation, my excitement for this hobby will only go up But if it's not, well, I still get to continue with the thrill of the hunt!

I'm still new to the hobby, so I haven't joined CONECA (yet) but if this continues to be as fun and interesting as it has been so far, that's not far behind!

    Thanks, all

    Dave
