Greetings Bonnie, your best friend with this is the Internet, there you will need to visit many sites with a wealth of information on Errors/Varieties.
You will need to spend hours reading and becoming familiar with the vast different types as well to understand how Dies are made and the Minting process
unfolds will help you determine Varieties from useless MD DDD etc etc.
