CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Hello from Missouri

IMG_0089.jpeg Hello, my name is Lisa and I’m a newbie to collecting coins. I say a newbie, but I’ve been collecting for about one year and trying to learn as much as I can during that time. There is a lot to take in and I’m not a spring chicken and the memory is not what it use to be. I have a 2017 Missouri Ozark Riverway Quarter that I found something interesting in one of the branches of the tree. I looked at the original picture of the quarter and it was not there (I wanted to make sure before I said anything) so I took several pictures and circled what I called a “snake”. I think Occ is trying to say that the item is probably on every one of these coins, but not as visible as yours.

I still remember quite vividly opening up bags of the Hawaii ones and seeing all sorts of extra metal on the reverse of those coins. I am not too sure what your item is supposed to be. I will have more time later in the day to look the coin over.
