CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • New Member Introduction

    Good afternoon!

New guy here, though I've been collecting since my father brought me into the hobby in the very early 70s. I got interested in errors pretty much right off the bat, so I've seen (and been educated about) all the simple stuff you run across daily. I learned a lot back then from a book I picked written by Alan Herbert in about 1974 (plus a good few decades of experience since). I even remember sending him coins in the mail to look at (for $1 plus return postage!).

I haven't been a super active collector most of my life, though I picked things up again about 10 years ago and have been getting back into it again.

Not a paid member yet, I'm in the process of retiring and moving across the country, but planning on it once I settle. Especially since I'll have even more spare time to devote to the hobby once that's all finished.

I've been active for a while in other online locations, and I'm hoping to learn even more here once I get settled in.

Welcome aboard. I am in the same boat, really close to retirement. Please ty to keep me busy, that's for sure. There are some decent folk here to answer your coin related questions. Let us know if you need any assistance navigating the forum.
