CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

New Member Introduction - LD (Numis.Java)

    Hi Everyone!

I'm excited to be here and can't wait to share my coin collecting journey with you all, a journey that owes so much to my grandfathers. It began in 1983, when I was a young 13-year-old moving to Lucketts, Virginia. A simple, yet meaningful, moment with my dad's dad in Cumberland, Maryland sparked my interest. He let me keep the change from our meal, and among it was a unique 1973-D Lincoln Cent featuring Presidents Kennedy and Lincoln. Initially, its distinctive appearance intrigued me, and I later understood it as a special, counterstamped coin. This discovery ignited my lifelong, albeit casual, interest in collecting coins with unique characteristics.

Now in 2023, my passion has deepened, fueled by the memory of my mom's dad, a bank president and avid coin collector. Inspired by his legacy, I've started to more seriously explore numismatics, building upon the collection I've slowly amassed over the years. I still treasure that first Lincoln Cent, a precious reminder of my early steps in this fascinating hobby. I’ve attached pictures of the coin to this post for everyone to view.

While I'm not yet a paying member of CONECA, I plan to join in the near future. I'm eager to share more with you and learn from the wealth of knowledge in this group.

Great story. There are some good folks in this forum that should be able to answer most of your coin related questions.
