My name is yah-will-ah ives, i am a coastal native American from western Washington, suquamish tribe. Me and my father collected coins for as long as I can remember, as a kid he'd always give me his personal experience collecting coins way back when, my dad was born in 1948, and starting collecting pretty serious at very Young age. I wanna say two years ago i saw a few videos that got me interested in the hobby again, after months of what I thought was pretty good research just turned out being click bait, I went an got the big red book, this last August (my birthday) my dad had actually shown me his whole collection for the first time, then he gave it to me, but that's not all, I'll never forget that words he said when he saw my eyes go big, he starts taking the labels off the coins, and proceeded to say, " no freebies son" f I had to do it so do you, with his arnry ol half grin half smile. and that day IV been dying to learn as much as possible, when it comes to error coins I feel like a lost puppy, I really like the grading scale that's set up thought, but like any new collector, I have SO Manny questions, and I will do my best not to ask ridiculous questions, I really appreciate you guys reading my little inro to collecting!

Welcome aboard. Yes, this like anything else has a learning curve and it will come over time. To learn is to keep you from making costly mistakes, and your Dad is a wise person.

One of the biggest saying I can offer is.... a collectable is only as valuable as the buyer is willing to pay for it.

There are some good people here to offer their opinions on the coins you have questions on. I can suggest that you offer your opinion on what YOU think it is as well. A person who is willing to help attribute their own coin should receive more replies that some one slapping photos down and asking "what is this". Those that help themselves can find themself well educated in the field that are enjoying. Its only a matter of time.

Remember search engines can be your friend too. You can ask them a question, and in different ways they can potentially find your answer. Mission accomplished, you can do it by yourself which will make you a better collector. As always people here are probably willing to help as they can.

I have nothing to do with what other people want to do. It's up to them to post and visit other sites as they want. The staff at CONECA are volunteers and are doing people a favor when they are answering questions. Yes, there is limited staff interaction here but if the questions are answered over time, its one less thing for them to do. No need to be sorry, its nature of the beast and where people want to feel more comfortable. I will admit that here are quite a few members that post very minor issues on this forum and it does get old after a while. I personally do not help many that slap down a coin and continually ask "what is this" without offering to help with their coin. I also ignore the coins that are assumed to have every type of variety on a coin and possibly on both sides. If there is no effort from them, they will get no effort from me.
