CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Hi Everyone

    Hi,
My name is Bill and I’m new to coin minting errors. I’ve been reading up on the various types of errors and am looking forward to learning even more from all of you.
I have collected coins since I was a kid and I am looking to expanding the hobby as I near retirement.

Welcome aboard, I recently retired and I am enjoying the free time. I've been collecting error coins and varieties since the early 1980s. Since 2003, the US Mint has had outstanding quality assurance and control, so the newer coins since then have a lot less errors. The rpms are extinct since 1989 or so. The mint added the mint mark to the master hub. No more punching mint marks into working dies from 1990 onward. There are quite a few foriegn varieties and errors out there, depending on what you collect.

    Happy hunting.
