CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 2008 P Oklahoma quarter missing clad layers from both sides

2008 quarter missing clad layers from both sides and weighed it and it is 2 or 3 grams lighter than average quarter. Am I correct? Does it have value? My scales are off by a lot, but the regular quarter weighs more than clad quarter

We need accurate weights. It does me no good to see weight that is way off.

It could very well be an environmental damaged coin. Like occnumis2021 suggests, it could have been in the ground or, exposed to some sort of acid or chemical to give it that look.

Again, CONECA forum rules frown on talking about values, as well as raw coin grading. So you probably will not get an answer on that here. Since it's probably not a missing clad layer, i have no need to go further.

i've been waiting for the day (not really lol) where someone actually finds a missing clad layer coin that WAS in the ground, posts it, i'm wrong and am forever mocked.

Nahhhhhh.... no matter what under those circumstances you'd either/and/or be half right or half wrong. So, the way I see it, you cannot lose !
