The rarity of the Denver minted version is partly because of the difficulties in distinguishing the error coin by sight. Only under magnification does the error come to light. It can be extremely challenging even for the knowledgeable collector to identify the error coin. I have actually looked at a low quality example for several minutes and thought I made out the markers only to realize that I had been looking at a San Francisco minted coin, much to my chagrin.

I can sure attest to that. I had looked at this same variety for a long time before realizing exactly what it was. The condition was almost exactly like your example. Nice variety to have.

I think we have all had times where we did something similar. At least when we are alone and examining coins, we don't have to admit we do things like this (LOL).
