CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • Clash mark on 2004P 5C

    Hello ! There!
I really need your experty to take a look at these pictures.
There seems to be a clash mark attaching behind jefferson's head.
Maybe a clash mark of hand from reverse side.

    Thank you.

I think the angle of the mark precludes it from being the sleeve clash (the direction should be upside down and inverted...so the angle should be down to the southeast). There are misaligned clashes also, but in this case, I can't tell for sure. I won't say it is not a clash, I just cant tell from what point it is from if it is a clash.

It appears to be what is commonly refereed to as a die scrape. Normally seen on the reverse of the Lincoln cent, all denominations have been affected by this. It is believed to be caused by the feeder arm and a mis-timing of its retraction.

ALAMEDA321, I wouldn't think there would be any premium for this as it is considered mint damage. There might be some folks out there interested in it, but I doubt they'd give you much more than face value for it.
