CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

Is this a new find maybe because it sure does look like a worker stamped this "D" twice by the looks of the loop in the upper loop of the D which in turn gave it the fatter portion that is visible. I can't seem to find any listing for 1988-D.
It's close to RPM-001 but NOT quite.

since it is modern pocket change, keeping a toothbrush around with just a little water to gently rub areas like this can get ride of ironic goop which this coin MAY have on the mm as i see a bunch in the surrounding areas.

I agree with eddie but that being said, there are tilted rpm out there that KINDA have this look where only part of a second mm has actually been punched into the die.
