1925 S Cent Identification
Hello, i recently come across a 1925 s penny that has something going on with the mint mark. Ive checked around and the MM placement isnt where it would typically be for a RPM. And help identifying and any other info would be amazing. You do not have permission to view this gallery.

thanks for looking around before inquiring. you are correct this mm is not in the known range of other rpm. good observation.
it is best to just do 1 obv and 1 rev pic with 1-2 key close-up pics. you're on the right track tho. i'll say the better the image quality, esp close-ups, the easier it is for us to help. if images are too poor, we cannot do anything. (i'm not staff/mod etc)
it looks like to me that the bottom serif just took a hit and got smooshed (just a loose observation) which would make perfect sense considering the condition of the coin, which is obviously very low BUT a nice looking low grade coin.
as a matter of habit when i have a bit fingerprint on a low grade coin like that, which happens a lot, i gently use my shirt tail and rub it off. not gonna hurt low grade coins at all, just be gentle.coinfacts.com - conecaonline.info - board.conecaonline.org/forum/numismatic-site-links - briansvarietycoins.com - coppercoins.com - cuds-on-coins.com - doubleddie.com - error-ref.com - franklinlover.yolasite.com - ikegroup.info -lincolncentresource.com - maddieclashes.com - money.org - ngccoin.com/price-guide/world - ngccoin.com/census - ngccoin.com/resources/counterfeit-detection - nnp.wustl.edu - pcgs.com/pop - pcgs.com/coinfacts - pcgs.com/photograde - varietyvista.com - vamworld.com

In my opinion, the subject coin does not match mintmark locations on any of the known documented rpm's at variety vista. The subject coin has the mint mark location almost under the 2 in the date. All of the documented varieties have the mintmark farther west. Mintmark location is vital to validate known rpm's.

Nooby,
I did the best I could to zoom your photo and yes it's still blurry. From what I can see I don't positivly see an RPM. If it's minor then the photo will need to be crystal clear to make a determination. I would place your camera on the fine setting and then take the photo as close as you can get. Hopefully we can see something clearer to give you an answer.. 1925-S-Coneca.jpg
