    2020 D Roosevelt

    Hello everyone

Wondering if this is something I am imagining or is it a DDO?

It looks as if Roosevelt has 2 eyelids.

Disregard post, I answered my own question. LOL. On another note there is this line, it seems to be a little shallow, it is smooth and not gouged like something scratched it. Thoughts?

It would be difficult to know for sure what happenened. The coin is slightly over 4 years old. It has seen some light wear.

It might be beneficial for a full obverse and reverse photos to see if any more clues are on the coin.

It could be post mint damage. It could be a strike through but it is difficult to prove the strike through with the current photo.

In my opinion....Yeah, this one is a tough call. Here me out on this. Its a head scratcher.

If those are fine scratches near the date, it might be an abraded die. The mint would scratch up a die to hide imperfections on the die. It was either to hide a die clash or, it was simply an overzealous mint worker doing maintenance on the working die which struck this coin.

Then, I look to the top of the coin, east (or right) of the Y in LIBERTY and there is something going on there as well. Its kinda hard to make out what it is, but its definitely not supposed to be there.

The line on Roosevelt could be a strike through. The scratched up area around the date a d the issue east of the Y could be a partial clash. Its difficult to say as the cameras will autofocus on the mylar film or the cardboard holder, causing the coin to be a tad out of focus.

I cannot tell if that area east of the Y is a clash, or if it is just part of the line on Roosevelt. Is the area east of the Y raised ?

I dont see any tell tale signs on the reverse, but i will look it over one more time after this post, just to make sure.

              Dan, Morning..
I was going to tell you to look at any other Roosevelt Dime, What your seeing at the eyebrow is the normal design. You figured that out..
What I think is going on in the field above Roosevelts head and below the bust, undernieth that heavy scratch is someone defaced the coin, trying to create an error. To be honest and just my opinion, it's post mint damage.
              Hope this helps.
