CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

    1951-D over S Overmintmark (OMM) ?

    This one is buggin' me.
I think I created a match on the overlay.
I will provide photos so any one who has owned one of these OMM can share their opinions.

John wexler years ago debunked the D/S as just RPMs. But, VarietyVista has them as OMMs. I for one just want to know if it is a match . I dont know if its worthy to send it in to a TPG since the value potential /:return on investment is just not there.

Gary - that one is 1951-D OMM002 - Coneca - It's the correct coin. My thoughts - just my opinion - If the coin is clean, no corrosion, few bagmarks and I mean small ones I would be on the fence also. I just cannot see sending #23 for the slab and another $18 for the variety verification. Unless you have other coins - no way send this one alone. Then your at $10 for the PCGS holdercase and another $25 for return shipping. So $76.00 for the whole PCGS thing along with the membership. My opinion it would need to be a flawless coin and found out of a roll in the wild. Just not worth it if you have $25 or more in coin..

One other thing to consider - if you see the die crack on the OBV then the coin was struck from a LDS to VLDS die so the coin is weaker detail. PCGS LIKES crisp/ well struck early die states with strong detail for the better grades.

This has a touch of verdigris that bleeds on the obverse and reverse. I will attempt to use the sonic-crafter and see if I can remove it.
Otherwise, its in pretty decent shape.
I am not a big fan of this one.
IF it were in good shape without the verdigris, I probably would not send it in.
Honestly, I found this in that monster box of RPM's I bought years ago.
The RPM's and DDO's I have left from that box probably now cost me cents on the dollar.

Don't send to PCGS. Even small spots they - "Environmental Damage" - Heck I sent a very nice 1946-P Jeff Nickel to them with a very thin nick in the steps - Kept a nice nickel out of Five Steps.
