CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

Both conecaonline.info and varietyvista list only 2 RPMs for this year and mintmark. In my opinion, the coin listed here does not appear to be either one.

The bottom left of the mintmark here looks like damage. It looks severe enough to have removed the lower serif. There is a touch of damage on the vertical bar as well. The vertical bar also appears to be very wavy which may indicate something was going on with the minting of the coin vice a RPM.

I am seeing more negatives than positives, so my gut feelings are its damage vice a bell ringer. I did not check doubleddie.com.

Although I respect John Wexlers work, but some of his personal listings are too minor for me. I see what he is talking about but, for me to do a sales pitch for some of them - that might be an uncomfortable challenge. Same with coppercoins in my opinion. Thats why I stick with CONECA and VarietyVista.

Eric will probably come in and offer his expert opinion. As a heads up, he may want a direct on shot of the mintmark to assess/attribute the coin.
