CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

Hate to tell ya, but these are mint errors.

There is no way the mint wanted these pennies to look like this.

Perfection is the goal. Not the millions of these that got out.

Respectfully. So you asking me to look at someone’s else opinion like a sheep. Kinda like rpm’s. Someone’s else opinion on how it happens. You’ll read about that when I finish my article. Because those engravers for the mint are apprenticeships. lol. Sorry those are high trained professionals. The best of the best and honor to do it. Yeah there’s no quality assurance and no second third or forth opinion on quality before put into service. Joe touch up those mint marks. I’m sure there was a large team involved and many many inspections Obviously manufacturing and quality is not accounted for here. Just a guess. Just too many errors for a highly professional trade and honor. I’d fire them for the first mistake. Sorry I don’t believe it. I know why this errors happened a will be in my publication. You can argue someone’s opinion on how it happened, but that’s not the case here.
Please this is all respectful and not meant to be demeaning. Looking from working for the government and state. This is not how it happened. This is coming from an old school generation collector and highly trained professional inspector and metals tech.

I would love to see one of these re-punch dies. Do you have an example of one? The way the secrecy is in the mint I doubt it

How about you test me? I have been to the mints and seen the inner workings, Have you? I have worked in a stamping plant and witnessed many parts there were made "bad" and how they got that way. I also have been in the error\variety arean for a little over 50 years, want to test me or my knowledge? Now, You have made comments about some of the mods here that I find unnecessary and rude. Consider this your warning to either abide by the rules of the forum which I KNOW for a fact were sent to you because I am the one that did it. One warning, next thing from me will be a ban to your account. Sorry, I dont tolerate trouble makers or unprofessional know it alls. Oh and if you would like to file a complaint feel free to contact James Motley, he is the president of CONECA, I am sure he would love to hear from you.
