    1942D RPM 1 D/D horizontal

I think this 1942D coin matches the CONECA RPM 001 (also covered in the Cherrypickers guide). Do you agree? I'm posting the Variety Vista photo and 3 pictures of the subject coin to make it easy to compare.

If this is a 42D over horizontal D, I know a older gentleman who is a variety collector that has been searching for one for many decades. That is how scarce this coin may be.

Eric eaxtellcoin may wander in and attribute this. I will assist if I can later. I have to get a project done today.

      An overlay looks good.

Let's see if Eric, John or Jamez comes in to confirm.

        Evening Ron,
First off, I think by the look and Gary's comment - your good.

I tried to resize your coin photo#2. It was so out of fucus I didn't even try to finish.
So I have to cover a tip before you try to overlay.:
        1) take a close up of the coin in size 1200pix X 900pix. Make sure in focus. If your size is different then you need to let us know so we have better luck trying to overlay. - This makes life so much easier if everyone takes photo's and crops at the same size and in focus.

Then I shot a photo of my copy. Mine was taken at 1200px X 900px if you want to try and overlay, I give you permission to do this.. I sign all my mintmarks so folks DO NOT use my photo's to sell there coins. Copyright. It's copyright infringement to use someone elses photo's without permission.

        1942-DRPM001-AU58-M.M..jpg

Then take a re photo of your coin, size to the same as mine, try to crop horizontal use your horizontal line to make sure the coin is horizontal on monticello.

Then when you have both photo's - the same size, overlay in Paint.Net. Always adjust your layers to see both coins within the photo.

        Hope this helps
        Eric

there may be times it is scarce availability but it is not scarce by any means. i've sold handfuls in ag-au but unc is tough for sure but still avail for those that watch the auction houses. hope it helps.

popular and brings a nice premium usually.

Thanks for the help Eric. To close this string I will report the following:
-Using your picture and my new Paint.net program I'm claiming victory on a successful overlay
-On the technical side my inexpensive USB microscope allows me to pick resolution from a drop down menu & the requested 1200 x 900 pixels was not available to me. I picked the closest option greater than your photo (1600 x 1200) & used the snipping tool to make my coin picture match your master photo.
-Advancing in the hobby seems to require seems to require learning; about the minting process, some new computer skills, and photography skills.
