1916/5 Barber Quarter with an S mint mark

There are no documented Barber dimes with an overdate of 1916/5.

I dont know why I said dime, I meant quarter. Its suspicious.,its like finding a 1878 O Morgan - they were not manufactured in the USA but several exist.
The mint mark is supposed to be on the lower reverse of the Barber quarter. I dont see anything there. There may be some staining there but i dont see anything raised. The mintmarks are typically lower and protected by thecdesign devices, its why they last so long on coins. Its extremely odd to have one worn off before the coin. It would be AG or Poor before it happens.
It will take a really good photo of the mintmark area to convince people this is a 16S. Same for the overdate.
The US Mint very rarely release just one coin so i doubt this would be unique. I personally think this is a plain 16. Maybe others will offer their opinions.Last edited by MintErrors; 06-16-2025, 11:18 AM.
