CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    2004-D 10c RPM?

    Hello everyone,

I feel kind of stupid putting this up here as I know RPM’s stopped after 1989, but it did catch my eye.

In my opinion, it is some sort of damage.
Compare the upper serif in relative shape to the bottom.

That mint mark appears to be pretty torn up.

Should you see a coin resembling a re-punched mint mark from 1990 to present, give the obverse a good inspection to see if the coin might be a DDO.

Thanks Gary for the input! I was going down that line of thinking. What was throwing me off from being just a beat up MM is the lower inside loop of the “D” as it looks like doubling going on there. I did look into the possibility of a DDO but couldn’t find anything for 2004-D the mentions doubling in the mint mark.

I’ll just put it in my oddities collection.
