    1943 P rpm-62 Jefferson nickel

I hope to show this coin matches the 1943 P nickel VV rpm-062. I'm submitting; a close up of the mint mark for my coin, the VV picture, a picture showing the mint mark location related the the neighboring letters and attaching the link to the related VV page. I successfully put the photos in Paint.net to compare but still require some hand holding to feel comfortable with this match to the 73 possibilitries.
    VV link. http://varietyvista.com/05%20JN%20RPMs/1943PRPM062.htm

In my opinion, paint.net is pretty easy, its getting both photos about the same size that can be a little tricky.

I usually put the known good photo on the bottom.
Use the layers tab to insert/open photos inside paint.net
Ensure it has some of the devices present, like IBUS.
Take your photo with same devices in background.
Crop your photo close to what the reference photo size is, closer the better..
I personally use a different photo editor to get photos same size.
Same size photos can be tricky with two different photos from different places...
. one can be closer to the coin, and the other farther away - do the best you can.
Manipulate the top photo under the layers, at the bottom (properties?) And get the transparency you need to see both photos by using that slide bar.
Then manipulate top photo to the same size (in respect to letters or mint mark size) as lower photo, eg, IBUS.
You should be able to stretch or shrink the top photo by grabbing the edge.
Once the IBUS's are lined up nearly perfect in size, the mintmark should fall in place, if it is a match.

It may look crude, but it will do the job.
I dont post those unless both photos were from my coins.

It takes practice like anything else.

      Ronald,
Looking at the Varietyvista example, in the upper curve of the S is a small raised dot. I dont know if that js a marker or not. Is it on your coin ? I think your coin is a much later die state than the one on VarietyVista, so it may not be there.

I am not at my pc to create an overlay. Awww phooie, I just realized that i probably will need to download the paint dot net program onto the new pc anyway.

I might be able to get to this sometime this week. It depends on projects and buttoning down for another snow storm. If eric get in here first, awesome.

        Evening Gentleman,
I don't have a copy of RPM#62 so I will have to overlay what was presented. I will say, I thought; at first it was a dead on match for position before the overlay.
Overlay with Paint: yes they are a match. Good Job Ron. This one is correct.
