1943 P RPM 52 nickel
I'm happy to confidently submit pictures for a favorable comparison to Variety Vista 1943 P RPM 52. With much help from "Mint Errors" I made a great comparison using paint.net and its a winner! Thanks so much. I could not upload the Paint.net file

This one I can tell right away is not RPM#52, HOW?
Look at the verticle shaft of the primary mintmark. Yours lines up between the BU of Pluribus, now look at the same placement on 052 - it's more East, "Facing You" under the U of Pluribus. I did an overlay but it just conferms what I'm saying so I wont post. Ron, Look at a later die state of RPM#55. It's a West also and is more closer to position, plus has a DDO.
Good Luck!

Ron,
In Paint.Net. when you save, there is a drop down menu. Change from PDN to JPG: Overlay Directions.png
Hear is the overlay. As you can see the Motto does not line up with the mintmark. 1943PRPM052bb - Ron_Coneca_Overlay.jpg

With my newly found confidence shattered I picked up the pieces and tried RPM 55 per your suggestion. It looks better & I also found what I believe is the DDO-001 pick-up point on the front. Would you agree the "E", "R", and "Y" in liberty show the appropriate seperation?
From a process perspective I'm pasting photos into paint then sizing them as close as possible then snipping them into individual files & putting them into paint.net. I'm struggling less using the program but need to analyze the results better. Thanks for dragging me along.

What I do with photo's to overlay: 1) both photo's must be the same size, So wars I usually use 600pxX600px but i'm using Adobe Photoshop elements.
I crop your photo if I have a whole REV to use. Then I do the same thing to Coneca's photo. If the size is a bit off you can use the bottom left or right of the top layer to size to the bottom layers mintmark. The Motto then should be close to the size. You can use the Rotate/Zoom in layers to adjust the angle of the mintmark if it's not the same as Coneca's.
I hope this helps.

You are welcome. It takes a bit of practice to line these devices (letters, numbers, buildings, animals, ect) up. I scrutinize the actual size of the devices to the Nth degree because its important to me. It helps me line up the photos nearly exact. Most of the times, anyway.
The issue is that not every photographic device take photos at the same height. That can throw the size of the devices (letters, numbers, buildings, animals, ect) off. Some can be smaller or larger in size, even though the photos are exactly say, 800x600 pixels in size.
It takes a little more time to crop, resize and get both photos pretty close to the same overall size. I like using corel's ulead photo impact. People also use photoshop, gimp heck, even paint (windows version) and a few others to get the photo sizes close. Then I import them via the layers tab in paint dot net.
It is time consuming. For those who try to assess or assist in attribution of a variety, this can take quite some time. Then look at all the other posts and questions. Some crow about what they have, other are curious and want to learn and some need guidance and direction.
So to all those who take the time to go those extra steps to make our experiences here a tad bit easier, I say...
THANK YOU !
Keep at it. We have confidence in your ability to master overlays over time.
