    1944 P rpm-027?

Keeping this breif as the site crashed on my 1st attempt. 1944-P Jefferson RPM-027. Looks like a great match using paint.net. Thanks for the tip on the software rotation tool! Posting he 2 photos I used to make the transparency + a full reverse photo & a magnification showing the split serif at the top left corner. My coin does not have the big blob shown in the VV photo. Would that be a problem authenticating the variety with a 3rd party if I chose to go that way?

I would believe since it does not have the blob, then its simply an earlier die state than the one pictured on variety vista. With prices so stinking high for grading at a 3rd party grading service, its all about return on investment and whether any of the family members later down the road would be interested in coins. Its your coin, money, time and risk. Good luck with whatever path you choose.

Thanks! I have had coins graded that were worth greater than $500. The stuff I'm looking at lately definately does not meet cost threshold. I'm always interested in hearing about submissions that were rejected for future referance.

I agree with Gary on this one. If the overlay matches up and the position does seem to look correct, the coin is an earlier die state.

Laminations, clips are the things, in my past that the grading services, "PCGS" esp will not grade or details grade. Most folks don't send them regular RPM's only Cherrypickers because of the sheer cost. Two years ago, that was about in the mid 40's at the cheapest; then also the price of the coin. But i'm from the midwest, prices paid on the coasts are higher and this may seem avg. ""Statement above was when PCGS had variety attribution specials at less than $18 per coin""
