CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. 2005 Lincoln error

    Hi again,

Please check out his cent. It has an extra raised area next to column 4 between 4 and 5. It also has what I think is a light impression of a statue between column 5 and 6, along with the normal between 6 and 7. I'd like to get some other opinions.

I think you're imagining things. Why not focus on defects that are clearly defined?

I don't see anything on this coin , nothing of significance to establish any error or variety sorry

Nothing there except normal wear of the die.

Okay people, what are you all going to call the possible extra column on the right side of column 4?

That one feature makes this coin worth looking at and I am sure that Bob Piazza and also John Wexler would like to see it.

I defer to BJ's assessment. His eyes are far more attuned to subtle die varieties than mine.

I agree with BJ. It is worthy of a second look. Drop me an email for instructions on sending it in for attribution.
                Thanks,

Ok, I didn't enlarge the photo's but I see what is there. I'd like to know what it is also, whether or not if it's a die problem.

I did not enlarge the photo either; the anomaly is evident in all three pictures. Not to drive the point home, but there is an anomaly that is worth looking at. Both John Wexler and James Wiles have expressed interest in this coin.

I will not say that this is a doubled die, although it does have it's possibilities. Only an in hand examination will be able to determine what the anomaly is. I just find it odd that so many jumped to the conclusion that there was nothing present of interest.

I will confess it's a lack of experience on my part. I didn't see it.

I agree that there is something going on here. After James has had a look at it, I would also like to see it if possible.

I'm sending it to Mr Wiles, and if it turns out to be worthy I'll send it your way Mr Piazza.
