CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1883-P Morgan Clash OBV or VAM

I'm not a VAM collector but when Silver hits the highs it is now, cashing in!
I noticed this on one of the Morgans we have, has something below the first 8 in the field and loop. IS this a Strike though or a listed VAM or both?
Notice the decent strike through on the reverse.

While this is not a 1883 (it is an 1886), it will give you an idea of where that clash mark came from. This is the link.

This is the VAM site for that year.

Thanks BJ!. It doesn't look listed from the site on the OBV. I cannot believe that though because of all the scrutiny of last 25+ years... Any Idea of what the OBV is or maybe please post.

Since none of the other digits show any signs of doubling or repunched, I would guess that this is die damage to the lower part of the 8 digit. I am not a VAMer, though I do appreciate them; my interest is in die clashes on the Morgans and Peace dollars.
