CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

I rechecked the location and it is close to the nose area on the Obv. but the feathers are hanging down and over lapping with fine details of feathers.

I don't see feathers; could be die deterioration patches. Also, what's going on just inside the rim? It almost looks like a reverse lathed down in diameter and thickness to fit into an obverse shell also lathed for the two to fit together.

The problem is if it is a doubled die where did feathers that shape come from? And what about those rims. What did you see?

Your coin looks like the reverse fits inside the obverse like this doubled header that I pried apart with my fingernails.

Hi Ken. Only info I could find on the rim was about Partial collar strike . The coin weighs 5.58 grams so its within tolerance there . I was hoping those were feathers it just looks odd in the shape and angle . There looks like a feather design just bellow these 2 that is inward like it had been polished out . I guess I was hoping the in-graver added the extra feathers but in that case more coins would have shown up since 1974.
