Opinions Please
First time posting, may be posting to wrong forum. But here goes nothing. Picked up these two slabbed coins for a song. 1962-D 10c and 1950-S 25c. Thought I would share to get other opinions whether the quarter is indeed an S/D, and whether the dime is a D over horizontal D. My closeup photos may not be the best. Having trouble getting the correct lighting at that range. Always have. 1950-S 25c OBV.jpg 1962-D 10c OBV.jpg 1950-S 25c REV.jpg 1950-S 25c REV2.jpg 1950-S 25c SoverD.jpg 1962-D 10c REV.jpg 1962-D 10c D Horizontal D.jpgTags: None

I can move this to the variety forum for you. Very nice pics and I was able to zoom in considerably. However, it does not appear that your quarter is an S/D or that the dime is a D over Horiz D. The quarter looks like a normal mintmark and the dime has MD.Bob Piazza

I thought I did post it in the variety forum. Or did you already move it? I appreciate that. Please move it wherever you think best. I'm going to break out my other S/D slabbed quarter and compare. There's something underneath that S mintmark that I find intriguing. Fortunately I already have a complete variety set. Anything else I find I just sell.

I did already move it for you. As far as seeing something under the S, I stared at it for a long time and I couldn't see anything that makes me believe an over mint mark. However, it does have some similarities to VV RPM-003. Did you have a look at that one?

Thanks, folks. We do the best we can with photos and still can't get the exact shot we need. Unfortunately, the photo of the quarter does not show the crack in the top of the hair or die chip in the nose of Washington. It also doesn't show the crack in the left wing. The dime: I'll agree is a stretch. The quarter: I'm taking my chances since I have the coin in hand. I've compared it with the OMM certified coin I have and it matches. I WILL let you know whether I am right or whether you guys called it correctly. Just hope I'm right. It would be a really nice $25 find!
