Hi there. I am a new member to CONECA. I just joined a couple weeks ago. Was able to pay my dues and received my first error scope publication. I’m excited to be part of this organization. I am a new collector, about 2 years. I have a 1983 D Lincoln Cent that appears to show some doubling. There is a die crack in the hairline that maybe one of the markers of the fs 101. Can you please share your opinions on the this coin? Appreciate you taking a look.

These are some pretty nice pics, but the very first thing you need to do when trying to attribute any variety is make sure you have the variety. I do not see any photo where you show us a picture of the earlobe. In this case, that is the doubling FS-101 is referencing. The only photo you have that shows the lower part of the ear is the full coin obverse photo and I do not see the variety on that photo. Without that, there is no sense looking for any markers. There could be thousands of 1983D coins with a die crack in the hair, but you only use markers to verify you have the variety in the first place.Bob Piazza
