CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1956 D DDO and DDR MS 63, 64, 65 RED UNC Variety Attribution

I am in need of Variety Attribution services for these coins. Not sure if PCGS will assign a variety to these graded coins as requested with Variety Attribution services. Same requested from NGC but they did not assign a variety to the 4 coins sent to them. HMMMMMM. Seems to be a waist of time and expense there.... Need to know what to do with Slabbed coins without variety attribution that needs attribution assigned to them. Details please.... were to send how much does it cost, who to contact, can someone contact me? JEEZ. What a pain....The Varieties are OBVIOUS. Question to forum??? Why do you not get what you pay for??? Do you get reimbursed the fees??? Do they not what to be involved in a cool discovery coin ???
    Thank You!

A few things before I address the main questions. First, there should only be one coin per post please. Second, were these coins submitted with a variety number included? There is normally an extra fee for that. When you send coins to a TPG service, they do not assign varieties, nor do they go through all of the sites to try and find one. Remember that they are looking through thousands of coin and sometimes only spend a few seconds on each coin.
These coins should have been submitted to a site for attribution before they were sent to the services. You would then have received a letter that assigns your variety number that could have been submitted with your coins. You are claiming these are DDOs and DDRs, but based on what I am seeing, I can not see any variety, especially what you are considering OBVIOUS. There are limits as to what these services will put on a slab. Unfortunately, you have to deal with those folks. If you paid for a service and feel that your coins did not receive what you paid for, your only recourse is with that companies customer service section.

If you want us to look at your coins for varieties, please repost with one coin per post and please explain what you see and try to photograph them as best you can. Point out the area in question. If we can verify there is a variety by looking at your photos , we will then work with you for an attribution to include when, where, and how much. Once that is completed, we will send that letter that you can include for either re-holdering or to bust out of the old slabs and resubmitting them. Again, PCGS, ANACS, or NGC have their own criteria as to what they will do with varieties and errors. It is up to you to research that info.

Everything you need to know was just spelled out by Bob.

      I will reiterate two points:

      ONE coin per THREAD

Specify what you are seeing and what exactly you are seeking clarification on.
