1911 5c Liberty Weird Gouge/Crack
This was listed as a die crack but I'm suspicious. Grabbed it anyway as a specimen, I'm curious what you all think. My photography equipment/skills aren't great, but this appears to be a gouge, with possibly excess metal where it intersects the design. To me, it seems this could be post-mint damage with pushed metal from the gouge raised over the design, rather than a die crack or scrape. But either my camera or my knowledge are lackingTags: None

Your rationale for thinking post mint damage is solid. It does appear to be a scrape or gouge. In addition there is plenty of evidence at the bottom of the letters in UNITED STATES that shows damage from a rolling machine. The one thing that has me a bit puzzled is that this also appears to be a lamination peel issue. However, being a 75% copper and 25% nickel composition, I do not know if that was ever an issue with these coins.Bob Piazza
