CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • 1842 possible restrike seated dime! Can

1842 Seated dime. It’s got VDB on the reverse. Not sure why or how, because he wasn’t born till 1871. Moved to the US in 1890! So look at the date. I’m thinking a restrike!

I don't see VDB and of course for the very reason you suggested, it can not be a VDB. I am thinking it is Pareidolia, or the inclination to see and identify things that are not actually there.

Sorry, I still don't see it. First, the VDB was under the word DIME, and now it's on the rim? We will wait for other opinions but I don't think there is any way this can be proven as anything other than seeing things.

Hard to see because of the duplication! Here’s a better picture. You can even see the dots
