  • 1963 ROOSEVELT DDR?

I am looking at a very nicely green toned 1963 Roosevelt Dime. The Coin is in an old ANACS holder marked 'PF DBL DIE REV' (296223). After looking through the over 50 DDR's I found for 1963, I have narrowed it down to DDR-002 on VV and/or WDDR-014 on DD. I am focusing on 'E P U' and 'U N I T ED' and the dots. The pics on both DDR-002 and WDDR-014 are very similar. I am also detecting the possibility of the Die Marker in the 'U' for WDDR-014 however the toning is making it difficult although the position looks right. Thoughts or comments?

I just can't tell. If you are having problems finding markers with the coin in hand, we are at more of a disadvantage.

Hello Bob, I hear you and thanks! I went through over 50 DDR listings. Some of them are very easy to rule out like the distortion on the dot goes down instead of to the right like the subject coin, etc. Some have die markers not present on the subject coin and got rules out. The only die marker that I suspect is present on the subject coin is the one for WDDR-014 (the last picture). DDR-002 and WDDR-014 are the two that look to me (the untrained novice) to be the best candidates. I think the heavy lifting is done. I have additional pics available is needed. Does the subject coin look like either one of the choices to you (the trained professional)? Also conversely, is there something about either one of the choices I missed that makes them not a candidate. PS This is a training exercise for me and not you so that one day I will not have to look through over 50 DDR to narrow it down! LOL

I am not sure. It may have to be looked at in hand next year when I hope we have dimes up and running.

Hello, I have added a pic showing the die marker present on the subject coin which is very similar to the one on DD WDDR-014. Thoughts or comments.
