CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

CONECA was formed through a merger of CONE and NECA in early 1983. To learn more about the fascinating HISTORY OF THE ERROR HOBBY and THE HISTORY OF CONECA, we encourage you to visit us our main site Here

  • RPM009?

Can I talk anyone into a 1938 D RPM009 for this coin? Looks like a good match.

I don't think so. The mintmark seems to low and too far to the east.

Is RPM6 possible? The coin and RPM6 both have the vertical line inside the "D" next to the straight portion of the letter

Nope. Its not 006. I think what you’re seeing is die deterioration

Thanks for the response! I pasted the Variety Vista RPM006 picture and the subject coin picture here for easy side by side comparison. I'm focusing on the straight portion of the line inside the "D" mint mark as the key tip off. What area are you focusing on that leads you down the die deterioration path?

You first stated RPM009 was the coin you have. RPM006 is not the same as the coin you have. RPM006 has a lower front curl ahead of the mintmark in addition to the interior portion.

As far as matching the RPM009, I do not see the same interior alignment of the possible RPM. It also appears the the mintmark itself is not at the same location as the RPM009. I am not a RPM expert and really cannot tell from the pictures, but if you feel you have something, it might be worth your while to send it to an expert for a professional opinion.
