Bob. I pasted the coin and the RPM side by side in this attachment with arrows comparing what I see in the SW area. Can you show me the area you are focusing on to further my education? My coin is uncirculated and is shinier than the Wexler example. Thanks for your patience with me.You do not have permission to view this gallery.

In my opinion, Bob is right. You coin mintmark is not in the right position. John W's example has the mint mark slightly higher and to the left. Look at the tip of the "D" on John's example. It looks as if it almost touches the bottom of the "L". The magnification for both coins are not the same, but I think it's close enough to make an educated guess. John's example also shows the "D" sunk in more, almost look like the die was dented when the mint mark was applied onto the die.
Look closely at John's example, at K1, K2 (clock position). There is an extra curve that is separate from the stronger mintmark. It actually starts at the top "D" tip of the serif and travels clockwise just beyond the stronger "D"...
it is best to try to get the exact same angle photos and as close to the same size. Maybe then an overlay could be made to see if they match up, but I too think it is slightly off.
I would check variety vista to see if they used multiple punch types for the year. They look a tad bit different, but it could simply be due to wear.Last edited by MintErrors; 02-09-2022, 08:35 PM.Gary Kozera
