    1971-D Lincoln Cent question !

Did the 1971-D suffer from any issues with the master hub showing doubling?

I know there is one DDO for this year/mintmark, but I am not too certain this is it.

I have this LMC and it has a possible split serif RPM, but the date is looking awful funky as well.

It clearly has an issue at the tops of all numbers on the date.

Although somewhat faint, the "9" below in the center of the curve shows some separation.

Looks to me like a D/D tilted (https://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...&die_state=lds). The date also does have what appears to be DDO too.

When I did my research of master die doubling, I do not recall ever finding any on the 1971 dies. There is the top of the 1 anomaly that is on just about all of them though. As far as your coin Gary, it does look like an RPM As far as the areas you point out at the bottom of the digits, I never noticed them before. I will go through some rolls and see if I can see it on any of them later on this week.

Thanks Bob. As always I appreciate your comments.

I will try to take a clearer photo if I can this evening or tomorrow. I have been swamped lately. I feel the photos I posted are decent, but I like to present nearly perfect photos when I can. I( did those in haste, just before bed and I feel obligated to take at least 1 more.

It is an RPM, thats for sure. Also, its not 1MM-015. That date is interesting though. I would agree with it being some type of MDD. You can see this doubling or remnants of it on a lot of the listed pictures. Dont have one in front of me while sitting at work trying to stay awake

Have you ever tried photo stacking? I think you would enjoy that software from helicon

I understand the process, but I don't care to take tons of photos and merge them all together creating that so-called perfect image.
I am not in it to win any awards or write any books, I am here as a collector, dealer, self-attributer and hopefully help people with varieties and errors.

Most of the software I work with offer an photo focus attribute and I occasionally use that. Simple, one click, done. take it or leave it. =)
But I want to show people what I see naturally under the scope and not "pretti-fy" anything that they may be interested in.

For me it's all about the lighting and backdrops. I focus on what is important and "share" that focus equally under the scope.

I do not believe it is the 1MM-015 because the mintmark does not match. I was saying the RPM looked like that of a tilted D/D. The flat area at the bottom center of the mintmark on this coin is quite different and the mintmark positioning appears lower on this coin too. I was assuming it was a new discovery since the combination of DDO and RPM were not noted on the sites I checked.

My apologies if I caused any confusion.

                    Thanks for the added amplification.
