  • 2003 P Jefferson Nickel - LSD vs MD vs DD

Hi All. I have been looking at a lot of nickels and I find them very difficult to ascertain. So I am posting in order to get some help with what I am seeing.

I see a VLSD that appears to show DD and MD on obverse and MD on reverse. I have arrows by the details I think are signs of DD which appear similar to other listings. Those are notches and lines on serifs and the raised extra detail below the ribbons on the queue. And yes there are no listings for 2003 on Brian's Variety, so this is probably just all DDD & MD. But I have to ask in order to know for sure

Thank you for all your help.

I think you pegged this one as all MD and die deterioration. I don't see any evidence of anything more.

Ok thank you mustbebob. It was the date that really had me going as it appeared so similar to the other DD's I have seen on brians variety. I had a good chuckle when I realized I had transposed the LDS with LSD. Looking at some of these nickels is so crazy hard maybe LSD is the best acronym!
