CONECA (pronounced: CŌ´NECA) is a national numismatic organization devoted to the education of error and variety coin collectors. CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    Good Morning Bob,
    Got a question. Take a look at the two pics of the EPU of the reverse shield. Pic #1 is normal. Pic #2…..what’s going on with the font/lettering of EPU? What am I looking at here? Thank you.

      I thought I answered it, but I guess I never submitted my response. My apologies.

      You have to remember that doubling on incuse devices appears different than raised letters. In addition, die wear also affects how these devices look. Below is a photo of how a hub doubled die would look on a shield reverse. Notice how it is kind of wiggly and thin. Does your show this?
