CONECA focuses on many error and variety specialties, including doubled dies, Repunched mintmarks, multiple errors, clips, double strikes, off-metals and off-centers—just to name a few. In addition to its website, CONECA publishes an educational journal, The Errorscope, which is printed and mailed to members bimonthly. CONECA offers a lending library, examination, listing and attribution services; it holds annual meetings at major conventions (referred to as Errorama) around the country.

    1961-D RPM 042?!

This one looks like it is an RPM, potentially RPM042:

Maybe it's just my eyes but it looks like there is something below the main mint-mark too. It could be an image artifact or just my desire to see something.

Very cool coin and great images.

Looks like it to me, does it have any of the die scratches shown on copper coins? Just curious.

Tomorrow, Thursday, I will get the coin under the scope once again.
I'll take photos south of the mint mark to see if any die scratches are evident.

        Thank you for the replies.

          SumD,

There is a lot of die scratches on this coin, especially near the date and mintmark
May there was something there in an earlier die stage, but it they polished out whatever it was to beyond recognition.

If I blast the serifs with light, there looks like weak, wide upper and lower splits serifs, but that's all I see.

As for the images, I don't stack them, its simply one shot and move on. If it gets the point across that is all that matters. Saves me tons of time too.

I looked this coin over and it was very difficult to find any markers what so ever. So, in a nutshell, no scratches.

I see plenty of die flow lines, but in a case like this one, the RPM is pretty unique. A positive ID of RPM-042 is pretty easy here.
