I agree with Bob, if it is step or shelf like, suspect machine/mechanical damage. Remember these are machines, hand tuned by humans. To error, is human, but machines are what they are and can change in an instant from near perfect to near mind boggling. It does not take much. They run faster than a jack hammer, slapping out billions of coins for circulation a year. Even the slightest vibration, or hiccup due to something gone wrong can create machine doubling like this.
in this case, its a proof coin, but the conditions are the same even though the production rate is slower and a little less chaotic.Last edited by MintErrors; 09-13-2022, 12:30 AM.
