  • 1972-D Lincoln Cent DDO?

    Hello,

Found this 1972-D DDO. I think it's DDO-005, 5-O-VIII, MDS? Just looking for some opinions. Thanks in advance.

I looked at the example on variety vista.
It appears that the location of your mintmark is different than the one on variety vista.
Yours looks quite a bit more south ?!

They had some master die issues in 1972.

This is not DDO-005. First off, it does not show the doubling over the crossbar of the 2 that DDO-005 does. You should always match the doubling first. From what I can see, your coin is one of the 50% of all cents struck this year with a master doubled die. The die gouge in the top of the S is one of the markers for this master doubled die, but ultimately, he lack of the doubling above the 2 confirms it not being anything unique for the year.
