1955 D Lincoln - Doubled Eye?

There is no doubt about this being a very nice Class 4 doubled die. This looks like it could be VV DDO-002. If it is not listed, it should be.

Thanks Bob. I'm posting a pic of the wheat lines shown as markers on the VV listing. I do not see a die crack or chip in the in the wheat lines as shown in DDO-002. If it is DDO-002 I'm guessing it may be an earlier die if it's a DDO-002? The pics on VV don't show a real close up but it kind of looks like there is more definition on mine. Hard to tell with the small pics on VV though.Originally posted by mustbebob View PostThere is no doubt about this being a very nice Class 4 doubled die. This looks like it could be VV DDO-002. Thanks. My first go-to is coppercoins.com. Same thing. Nothing on the wheat lines and no cracks in the hair that I can see as shown on coppercoins.com. Plus, mine seems to show a better defined doubled eye than that one.Originally posted by MintErrors View PostThere are several listed on coppercoins as well.

So, my next question is, if it is a previously unknown variety, what next? How would I get it listed? Should I send the coin off for a more expert opinion? If so, where?
Thanks in advance for all of your input. As a real amateur, this is pretty exciting stuff for me!

You would need an attributer to examine it for you and either confirm if it is one in their files, or assign a number and add it to their files. I will private message you with the name of the attributer from CONECA to contact.Bob Piazza

Very nice Class 4 DDO. Great find.
As others have said, the potential for VV's listing DDO-002, maybe earlier stage, VV's photo casts a shadow under the eyelid which could throw it off, Coppercoins shows the same spread, but with no die markers this could be an earlier reverse die state. Can you provide a close up of the date and MM as the MM position can be used as a diagnostic to determine the variety as well.

Here's a closeup of the date/mm. It would not surprise me at all if it is DDO-002 EDS. Here's the pic you requested.Originally posted by Basics2Varieties View PostVery nice Class 4 DDO. Great find.
